Once we decide on the dental crown we are using having the dental crown placed usually takes about two visits. We will need to buff out any cracks, chips or fractures in the tooth so that it doesn’t get worse. Then we will need to remove enough tooth enamel to prepare the tooth for the restoration. This is all performed under local anesthesia, so you shouldn’t feel any discomfort while your tooth is prepped for the crown.

Next, impressions are taken of your teeth. These impressions are what we send to a nearby dental lab where they will use them to design and fabricate a dental crown that is fitted just for you. In the meantime, a temporary crown is placed over the tooth to protect it from damage. About a week later you will come back to get your permanent crown fitted and then cemented into place.

Whether you have questions about dental crowns or you want to find out if crowns are right for you, it’s time you called Dow Dental in Springfield, OR to learn more. Protect your smile and you’ll get to enjoy it for many years to come.
